Leptadenia Reticulata

Plant Phytonutrient Profile

1: Indian J Exp Biol. 2002 Dec;40(12):1382/6.

In vitro regeneration of roots of Phyla nodiflora and Leptadenia reticulata, and
comparison of roots from cultured and natural plants for secondary metabolites.

Bhatt T, Jain V, Jayathirtha MG, Banerjee G, Mishra SH.

Pharmacy Department, The M S University of Baroda, Faculty of Technology and
Engineering, Kala/bhavan, Vadodara 390 001, India.

Adventitious roots, generated using leaf explants of P. nodiflora, and meristem
explants of L. reticulata, were cultured on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium
supplemented with napthylacetic acid (2 microM) and indole butyric acid (3
microM) respectively. After 30 days, subculturing of roots in liquid MS medium
with napthylacetic acid (1.5 microM) for P. nodiflora and indole butyric acid (3
microM) for L. reticulata afforded considerable increase in root mass. HPTLC
profiles and microscopic examination of transverse sections of in vitro and
naturally grown roots provided information on secondary metabolite accumulation
vis/à/vis developmental stages of the root.

2: Indian J Exp Biol. 1975 Sep;13(5):448/9.

Anjaria JV, Varia MR, Janakiraman K, Gulati OD.

PMID: 1218901 [PubMed / indexed for MEDLINE]

3: Planta Med. 1975 Jun;27(4):395/400.

Crystalline principles from the leaves and twigs of Leptadenia reticulata.

Krishna PV, Rao EV, Rao DV.

PMID: 1161909 [PubMed / indexed for MEDLINE]

4: Indian Vet J. 1967 Nov;44(11):967/74.

Studies on lactogenic property of Leptadenia reticulata (Jivanti) and leptaden
tablets in goats, sheep, cows and buffaloes.
